Ronda Rice Carman and Designers at Home

I had the amazing privilege of attending Tobi Fairley’s NEWEST camp, The Journey to Getting Published. It was three days jam packed full of content and events. Tobi herself not only shared her journey, tips and best practices but we also had the once in a career chance to hear valuable confidential information from Krissa Rossbund, Ronda Rice Carman, Nancy Noland and Sandy Gilbert-Freidus.

WOW! What a week this has been. I didn’t know when I set my goals for this year how I would get there or what path I would take, I have a long way to go and so much work ahead but this week has definitely been a step in the right direction AND I have so many people to THANK!! I could not do anything of this alone.

Interior Design Knowledge is Power

“It is what we think we know already that often prevents us from learning.”~ Claude Bernard

Day #10 – Knowledge is Power: The most important thing my Design Camp experience has reiterated for me is that learning and knowledge are power. We should all keep an open mind, keep learning, and growing in whatever field or stage of life we’re in. So in wrapping up this Blog series, what better way to do that by mentioning some of the great reading resources we all talked about at Design Camp. As you may or may not know, I truly enjoy learning new things, traveling a bit and experiencing new adventures. So it was perfect for me to come back to Atlanta with a whole list of books to add to my never ending reading list. Who knows, maybe you’ll enjoy a couple of these yourself.

Why You Should NOT Skimp on Window Treatments

12/1/2011 | Categories: Decorating, Education, Tips, Window Treatments | Tags: , ,

Yep, I’m still going strong with my takeaways! Honestly, I think I could go on and on and on (but don’t worry, I won’t….we’re almost done here). This is one of my favorite topics to discuss because I do realize the importance of window treatments and I also realize this is one area that you DO NOT want to cut corners or skimp on budget – window treatments of course. The right window treatments can really make or break a space….not exaggerating here people!! See below to find out why.

Interior Design and Decorating with Function in Mind

“Good design is beautiful, but great design functions beautifully.” Jennifer Reynolds

I’ve just recently returned from an amazing 3 day adventure in Little Rock, Arkansas. I decided as part of my “Commitment to Continued Education” I would attend one of Tobi Fairley’s inspiring design camps. I had such an amazing time and met so many amazing women (can’t forget about you too Landon) it may be hard to put into words, but I’ll give it a whirl. Let me just take a minute to thank Tobi and her team for their graciousness and southern hospitality (the hot pink Hummer limousine should say it all:). They made us all feel so welcome….as if we were all part of their amazing team for a few days. I have so many incredible takeaways and a-ha’s that I thought it would be fun to share them in a short Blog series. Instead of just dumping them on you all at once, I thought I’d break it down, otherwise you’d be on a design and inspiration overload too. No complaints here….inspiration overload is a fun place to be for sure. I’m detoxing a bit from all the excitement so I’ve already been thinking about what the next event or adventure might be!! I’ll have to keep you posted on what I come up with.
