My client had boxes and boxes of sports and movie memorabilia that he had been storing away for this very day. He had been collecting all his life and these were definitely his treasures. We just recently finished building out his dream space consisting of a Home Theater, Game Room and Pub…you can check out the design concept and sketches of the project here if you’re interested in seeing where this all started. This is just a little peek of the project as we will have professional photos taken soon….so stay tuned!

We had no time to waste so we literally designed the wall layout right on the floor at the base of the wall. The tape measure was there just to give us the height of the wall and nothing else. We eye balled everything and up on the wall it went. Aside from a few of the three dimensional pieces we plan to add at a later date, here is the finished wall.

Watching my client’s face when he walked in the room was priceless. It was as though he was seeing long lost friends that he had so desperately missed. These are the moments that give me the most joy. Nothing beats an ecstatic client at the end of a design project!

Another wall to hang laid out first on the floor. This literally took 5 minutes to arrange and then up they went. No thinking, no second guessing, just doing!

This is a great idea to perfectly place and plan your wall of artwork but we just didn’t have the time. If you have more than a couple hours before your guests arrive, you can check out their full tutorial over at Simply Seleta.

You may notice that a few of the frames aren’t perfectly straight. We had to wait to apply art putty and tacks to some of the corner until a later day….remember NO TIME, rush job, quick deadline. Here’s proof that good things can happen quick if you’re committed, make fast decisions, and have no regrets.

Here’s to hanging artwork on the fly! Don’t be afraid to try a gallery wall…the worst thing that can happen is you end up with a few extra holes in your walls. SIDE NOTE: Be sure to use hangers that are rated for the weight of your pieces. You don’t want to be awakened by a crash in the middle of the night. You definitely won’t want all your hard work to end up on the floor. (Been there, done that:)!!

As you can see from the floor plan above, we did really well in terms of achieving all of my clients needs and wants. We even found a little niche for the Mrs. must-have arcade game. We even created a nice entrance with the limited space we had to work with by incorporating a well designed feature wall (more to come on that later) and the high-end A/V rack equipment greets you when you round the corner (guys love that).
