Schematic Design
With your approval of the program, we are ready to create a Schematic Design.
We know what you want. We know your budget. And we know your timeline.
Now we need to transform the program into a workable design.
The Schematic Design phase addresses all the significant areas of design which we will review with you before we proceed with more detailed drawings. A preliminary cost estimate is also usually provided at this stage.
In short, it’s during this phase where we roll up our sleeves and dive into the details of your project.
We start to develop rough, exploratory directions using preliminary sketches that will help us “visualize” your interior design end result.
Typical elements we look at
- Develop broad based concepts centered around character, function and aesthetics
- Renovation changes and floor plan modifications, preliminary furniture plans
- Begin color palette and design scheme direction
- Continue to develop “Space Planning”
- Develop compatibility matrix if needed to establish flow and arrangement which may include bubble or blocking diagrams
- Preliminary design scheme to begin
- Prepare preliminary sketches and perspective drawings and additional visual communications
- Identifiy power changes or lighting additions or changes
- Identify and consider all the external factors like timeline, budget and personal requirements that will impact your project.
- Prepare Conceptual Design Documents (to include life safety and building codes, universal accessibility codes, green design options, and budget)
Once we are armed with this information, we can produce a schematic design that becomes the ‘how to’ guide for completing your interior design project.
