Project Programming
The Programming Phase forms the foundation of our design work and effort.
Its main purpose is to ensure that we clearly understand the project goals, expectations, budget and time frame.
A key benefit of a thorough, detailed program is it reduces the need for later backtracking and redesign by maintaining an orderly and cost-effective design process throughout the duration of the project.
Elements of the Programming Phase:
- Goals, needs, wishes, limitations, expectations, aesthetics.
- Site walk-through – gather additional information, notes, measurements, and photos
- Existing furnishings to be inventoried with specific details noted
- Collect existing blueprints or measure to create our own
- Research relevant codes and universal design requirements if needed
- Contact other specialists if necessary that will be involved
- Detailed review of budget and schedule
- Produce “Design Concept Statement” and project overview direction
- Review all details with client for approval
- receipt of signed contract, initial payment, and Lifestyle Questionnaire
