My Secret Obsession at High Point Market

For me it’s not all about seeing what’s new and trending at High Point Furniture Market. That is of course a huge part of it but one of my favorite things to do is to slow down and take notice of the wonderful details that make some of the spaces stand out.

These are some of the small details that can often be overlooked when zipping in and out of showrooms.

It’s all in the DETAILS!

Below I spotted some great artwork hanging at the Bernhardt showroom. I love how the found or collected object (part of an old horse bridle) is framed. The mat is a beautiful textured fabric and the frame has a gorgeous beaded detail.

Things like this really get my creativity going!!

I saw a lot of contrast cording and trim but what really caught my eye was all of the contrast tufted buttons….love the use of color on this chair at Wesley Hall! (can you see the orange tufted buttons)

Loving the DOUBLE contrast ribbon tape on the sofa skirt at CR Laine.

I think I have a pillow obsession, one year it was books and now its toss pillow details. I spotted these first two at the Mr. and Mrs. Howard showroom and the last one was at Wesley Hall.

Notice how we’ve gone away from big, bulky cording. I love the simple tailoring of these pillows, the added flange detail and the sweet corner pleat….just perfect!!

I always try to take notice of styling vignettes and this mantel and bar cart at the Bernhardt showroom caught my eye. How easy would these be to create?!

I thought this was a great idea. Why not pair an upholstered ottoman with a high side table to give your seating area more function, flexibility and interest.

This was another clever idea that was spotted a few times around High Point Market and I’d be curious to hear your thoughts. Do you like the idea of lining up 2 or 3 chests or consoles to create one long piece?

Those are just a few of my detailed spots around market, I hope you enjoyed and were even a little inspired to pay a little more attention to the details the next time you’re at High Point, another trade show, a show house or even a retail store.

Do you already make a point to take notice of how the pro’s pay attention to detail? I think it’s one of the small things that makes great design stand apart, DETAILS!! You can check out my Pinterest boards on more Detail and Styling ideas here and here and if you have boards you’re already created I ‘d love to hear about them so I can follow along.

I do like the three chests lined up to create one long console. And one could break up the set if there wasn’t a long wall in that next house. I pinned Mr. and Mrs. Howard’s pillow. It suits my traditional style.

Jennifer, I’m a huge fan of bunching chests together! In fact I have a pair of chests in my bedroom bunched together. Your detailed finds are perfect. Thank you for sharing!
