I had such an amazing time being a part of the BRIZO Fashion Week Event in New York that I just had to share every minute with you (well almost). Hope you don’t mind the extra long blog post but there is just so much I want to share and I don’t want you to miss out on a single minute.
Be sure to read to the very end as I’ve included some behind the scenes Brizo Fun Facts, a list of where you can see more of the exciting event news, links to all of the other bloggers and designers who participated and a JASON WU CANDLE GIVEAWAY. I hope you have a few minutes to come along and enjoy this amazing, once in a lifetime experience with me….enjoy!
A DAY BY DAY RECAP
Brizo Welcome Reception: Once we arrived at the beautiful Eventi Hotel in Chelsea New York we had some time to settle in, check out the amazing views of the city and freshen up for the first event on schedule, the Brizo Welcome Party Reception. This was held in a beautiful suite overlooking the city and it’s where we finally got to meet each other. All of the amazing designers, bloggers and the welcoming Brizo team were there.
Brizo Brand and Product Sessions: We had many working sessions with the Brizo team including Design Research, Prototype Review and Evaluation, and in depth discussions of market trends and research. We saw a behind the scenes video of the company head quarters and how they gather inspiration, conceptualize new products, and peeks into their brilliant engineering and development. I really enjoyed hearing from the mighty talented designers and hearing about where they look to find inspiration. They’re trend boards and design sketches were amazingly impressive, definitely a high light for me.
Below is Judd Load (Director of Industrial Design for Brizo) talking us through some of the design concepts and inspiration behind the brilliant collaboration between Jason Wu and Brizo. Check out the fascinating design and concept sketches of ODIN by Seth Fritz (Lead Industrial Designer for Brizo). The technology in this faucet is mind blowing. You can read the impressive press release here.
Sur La Table: First of all I am not a cook, my husband does the cooking in our household (my kids are so thankful), but I must say I had a great time at our interactive cooking class. The team at Sur La Table was fabulous and Chef Judi Rose was a lot of fun! I mean what could be better….wine, food and great friends. We were sent home with great recipes, a bag of goodies and a lot of fun memories!
Fashion’s Night Out (#FNO): After our fun cooking experience at Sur La Table, several of us went out to hit the streets of NYC to participate in 2012 Fashion’s Night Out. FNO is the after hours shopping extravaganza that takes place across the globe. This was the fourth year and it’s something you should experience at least once. You can check out some of the best photos shared from across the world here.
Champagne Brunch: Our last morning together we had a fabulous big breakfast….we had to fuel up for the long and exciting day ahead which included the Jason Wu Fashion Show and fabulous after party!! (and can I mention there were three outfit changes this day)! I enjoyed and soaked up every single minute.
Jason Wu Fashion Show: It’s been said that getting tickets to Jason Wu is like getting tickets to Willy Wonka. I cannot express how honored and grateful I am to have been a part of such an amazing event and experience. This was a once in a life time experience that I will NEVER forget and in the words of Jai Massela (Senior Channel Marketing manager of Brizo), it is the best 11 minutes of your life!!
Brizo After Party with Jason Wu: It’s a tradition for Jason Wu to view his runway show for the first time at the after party and to say that I was thrilled to get to share in the experience is an understatement! To view the collection again with the master himself was beyond words. Jason took time to chat and answer questions about his inspirations, role models and his collection. I was able to get some of the conversation on video which I will cherish and look back on for years to come. He’s so warm, has a great sense of humor and is simply brilliant. For him to take time out to talk with us after his demanding day speaks volumes. Jason, thank you from the bottom of my heart!
SPECIAL NOTE TO MY FRIENDS AT BRIZO
I cannot thank Brizo enough for inviting me to this once in a lifetime experience. You having the confidence and trust in me and my opinion means the world. BRIZO FUN FACTS
The name Brizo is derived from an Ancient Greek word meaning “to slumber”, is an ancient Greek goddess who was known as the protector of mariners, sailors, and fishermen. Brizo was also known as a prophet specializing in the interpretation of dreams. “Inspired by the power of dreams”….Brizo
A functional solution to fill those un-used faucet holes at your kitchen sink are the very functional and creative bud vase and towel valet. I would love to have a fresh flower or two at may kitchen sink everyday. When I have my new Brizo TALO faucet installed, I will also have the coordinating bud vase installed as well.
Brizo was the first national sponsor of the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway Program. The St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway was created in 1991 and has since become one of the largest single-event fundraisers for St. Jude nationwide, raising more than $155 million for research and patient treatment.
